The Grow Hope Foundation and the Brockton Public Schools invite the community to nominate teachers who they feel exemplify excellence in teaching, equity and community impact.

The Brockton Public Schools and the Brockton Education Association (BEA) jointly announce that the two sides have agreed to a successor contract. BEA members ratified the agreement late last week, and it was formally adopted by the School Committee Tuesday evening.

Spirit Week kicked off with lots of smiles on Twin/Triplet Day as students and staff doubled (and even tripled!) up in matching outfits to spread school spirit and a little holiday cheer. Spirit Weeks are more than just fun—they help build a positive school culture by encouraging belonging, connection, and school pride. Activities like Twin Day give students a low-pressure way to participate, strengthen relationships with peers and staff, and feel more connected to the school community. When students feel included and engaged, it supports their overall well-being and creates a welcoming environment where everyone can thrive.

Champion students and staff came together this week to celebrate Culture Day by sharing homemade dishes and desserts that represent the many cultures, traditions, and stories that make up our school community. From family recipes passed down through generations to favorite foods that reflect heritage and identity, the event highlighted the diversity that strengthens and unites us.

Champion High School students welcomed the fall season with a delicious surprise from Chartwells, the district’s breakfast and lunch provider. To celebrate the flavors of autumn, Chartwells served a warm Apple Cranberry Cobbler—a New England twist on a classic recipe that highlights local fall crops. Students were excited to try the new seasonal treat, and the sweet-tart combination quickly became a lunchtime favorite. It was a simple but meaningful way to bring a taste of fall into our school community.

Brockton Public Schools would like to remind families that students have the option of eating breakfast and lunch at school each day at no cost to them. As of November 7, the Healey-Driscoll Administration is directing full SNAP benefits to recipients. Open this article for more food resources.

Students and staff came together to plan, design, and build creative Trunk or Treat scenes, strengthening relationships and fostering collaboration across our community. This event reflects Champion High’s mission to provide an academically rigorous environment while supporting students’ social and emotional well-being. We believe school should be a place students look forward to every day, and our Trunk or Treat was a fun and meaningful way to celebrate creativity, connection, and school spirit.

On Thursday, October 23rd, Champion High School welcomed Dental Assistant Josefina McKinnon, who shared her inspiring story of growing up in Brockton and finding her path in the dental health field. Josefina spoke about the training and dedication it takes to become a dental assistant and highlighted local programs at Southeastern Regional that prepare students to become dental assistants or medical aides. Students appreciated her powerful message that it’s never too late to find the career you truly want and left feeling motivated to explore opportunities in healthcare.
