Brockton Public Schools and the City of Brockton invite community members to provide their input as part of the long-term planning process for the future of the Brockton High School building.

The Brockton School Committee voted on the 2026-27 academic calendar, which is available now!

During National School Counseling Week, schools across the country take time to recognize the vital role school counselors play in supporting students’ academic success, social-emotional growth, and college and career readiness. Counselors work every day to help students navigate challenges, set goals, and build the skills they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

This year, students at Champion High School found a creative—and delicious—way to say thank you. Students enrolled in the school’s new cake decorating class used their newly learned skills to design and decorate special cakes in honor of their counselors. With colorful frosting, thoughtful messages, and plenty of school pride, the students proudly presented their creations as a sweet token of appreciation.

The cakes were more than just a treat—they were a heartfelt reminder of the strong relationships between students and the counselors who support them every day. Thank you to our school counselors for the care, guidance, and encouragement you provide to students and the entire Champion High School community.

The Student Council proudly organized Champion’s very first Movie Night, creating an evening full of fun, connection, and school spirit! To build excitement and ensure student voice was at the center of the event, council members invited students to vote on the movie selection. The winning choice—Jurassic Park—had the audience on the edge of their seats as they enjoyed the film on the big screen in our school auditorium.

Student Council members went above and beyond by preparing fresh popcorn and welcoming their peers to a relaxed, community-centered event. The evening provided a wonderful opportunity for Champion students to socialize in a positive, supervised environment outside of the regular school day.

While we may not have celebrated the Super Bowl victory we were hoping for, our Patriots Spirit Day was a true win for students and staff alike! Classrooms and hallways were filled with navy, red, and silver as our school community proudly showed support for the New England Patriots. From jerseys and hats to creative team-themed outfits, the enthusiasm was contagious.
Even without the championship trophy, Patriots Spirit Day reminded us that school spirit, camaraderie, and community pride are victories worth celebrating. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a success!

Under state law, DESE is required to review a small number of districts each year, and they select a variety of districts based on size, geographic location, setting, and student performance. There will be an opportunity for parents to take part in this important process.

As we work toward re-opening schools, you can help make things safer for students who walk to school by shoveling a sidewalk in your neighborhood. If you submit your before and after photos here, you'll be entered to win a Brockton Boxers scarf!

All Brockton Public Schools, buildings, and programs will be closed through February 27, 2026 due to continuing storm cleanup. BHS drama and boys' basketball students should expect additional outreach regarding their programs.

Students recently completed our school-wide read of Touching Spirit Bear, a powerful novel centered on accountability, healing, and personal growth. As a culminating activity, students worked cooperatively to design and build a totem representing their chosen spirit animal.

This project connected directly to the novel’s themes, as the totem symbolizes identity, strengths, and the journey toward balance—key elements reflected in the main character’s experiences. Working in groups required students to practice collaboration, communication, and empathy while honoring one another’s ideas and perspectives.

Through this shared experience, students strengthened social-emotional learning skills such as self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship-building, reinforcing the message that growth and change are supported through reflection and community.

Families should ensure that students dress very warmly during expected extreme cold over the next few days, especially when spending time outdoors walking to school.
